1988: Anne-Marie Rakhorst (1967) obtains her BBA at the European University in Antwerp. After completing her studies, she establishes the Dutch branch of a Belgian laboratory, which she subsequently heads for four years in her capacity as General Manager.

1994
: In this year, Anne-Marie sets up her own company: Search Laboratory in Heeswijk, the Netherlands. Search develops into an internationally-oriented engineering firm, laboratory and training institute. With a broad range of services in the area of (sustainable) construction, industry, the environment, spatial planning, energy and water management.

2000: Anne-Marie is elected Businesswoman of the Year, and awarded the prestigious 'Prix Veuve Clicquot'. Anne-Marie is a popular lecturer at conferences and events themed around the issues of 'corporate social responsibility' and 'sustainable development'.

2002: Anne-Marie becomes a member of the national senior management board at the KRO, a Dutch public broadcasting organisation under great strain due to the ever-increasing number of commercial television stations.

2004: Anne-Marie and several other pioneering entrepreneurs establish ‘Made in Holland'. This foundation stimulates creative and innovative entrepreneurship in all branches of Dutch industry, in order to ensure that the Netherlands retains production processes and expertise.

Anne-Marie is also appointed member of the committee chaired by Nout Wellink, President of the Nederlandsche Bank N.V. responsible for selecting the winner of the prestigious annual King Willem I Award. This award is presented by HRH Prince Willem Alexander to Dutch companies that have distinguished themselves through exceptional achievements, helped create employment opportunities and prosperity, play a pioneering role in their sector and helped strengthen the reputation of Dutch industry at home and abroad.

2007: Anne-Marie writes her first book, Sustainable Development... a Global Opportunity, which is presented to Yvonne Timmerman-Buck, chairlady of the Upper House, in hotel Des Indes in The Hague on 24 September. In addition to dissertations on sustainable development, the book contains many practical tips on private initiative.

Later that same year, Anne-Marie decides to initiate a Dutch translation of Cradle to Cradle: Remaking the Way We Make Things, in order to make the ideas and philosophies of visionaries Michael Braungart and William McDonough accessible to a broader audience. The book is presented at the Let's Cradle conference in Maastricht on 1 November.

2008: Anne-Marie writes her second book, Sustainable building, sustainble profits, which is presented to former prime minister prof. drs. Ruud Lubbers, in Kasteel de Wittenburg in Wassenaar on 25 September. Her intention is to establish that the building sector can provide the basis for a clean, habitable and sustainable future.

In 2008 Anne-Marie was also asked to become a member of the Urgenda, the Amsterdam Climate Council and the Club of Rome's Board of Advice. Ambitious organizations which all stand for a sustainable future.

2009: The magazine 'Vastgoedpersonality' (Real Estate Personality) is launched. Anne-Marie has been asked to act as chief editor for one time only. The magazine title is "Tomorrow's growth" and is totally dedicated to a sustainable future. In cooperation with both national and international leaders in sustainability such as Michael Braungart, Wubbo Ockels, Annemarie Jorritsma, Adrian Wyatt and Hermann Scheer.  

Meanwhile Anne-Marie is also nominated Real Estate Woman of the year 2008-2009.
